Scripture of the Day - April 30, 2012

Psalm 139:17 How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

God's eye is always upon us. He is watching over us with eyes of love and compassion, wisdom and understanding. He knows where we have come from and where we are going. He is jealous over us and will protect us at all cost...yes all cost...He manifest himself in the flesh and paid the penalty for our sins so we could have eternal life not what we really deserve.
Are you going through a trial? Are you going through a time of testing. Weary not dear one for God is watching over you and will guide you through it all. Keep you hand in his, keep you eyes focused on Him.

Scripture of the Day - April 29, 2012

Psalm 32:8 I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.

I have worked with people who cannot move their bodies and cannot speak. Not only are they dependent on you for everything but you have to know them. You have to know them so you comprehend what they are trying to tell you with their eyes. They will look at you a certain way for different needs and you have to understand that look to know their need.
God depends on us to do His work here on earth. He uses people to reach people and He relies on us to carry out His will. He gave us His Word to instruct us and teach us the way we should go. We need to know Him, through His Word, if we are to understand what He is telling us. We need to communicate with Him through prayer to get a grasp on His will.
Through much study of the Word and much prayer, we can get so close to God that our actions are almost instinctively in His will...he can guide us with His eye and we can follow without faltering because we are one with Him just as the branch is one with the vine.

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Scripture of the Day - April 28, 2012

Romans 8:38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I read about a person who went to a wedding and heard the vows "for as long as our love shall last." She wondered why the couple bothered with the wedding at all, and sure enough, less than two years later they were divorced.

In this postmodern culture of me,me,me it's no surprise the divorce rate is soaring. We go into our relationships expecting the other to cater to our needs and do our bidding...and we are always disappointed.

A healthy relationship is a two-way street where each is looking out for the other person's best interest. A healthy relationship occurs when both parties are committed, no matter what may come their way.

God is committed to you and not even death can separate you from His love. How committed are you to Him?

Scripture of the Day - April 27, 2012

Psalm 77:5 I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times.

We live in the postmodern era and we think we have all the answers, we think we have arrived. We have arrived alright! Arrived to a point where we don't know when a human life begins, where we don't know what sexuality means, where we don't know what marriage means... so we redefine these basic things of life to fit our warped perspective. There are no absolutes and truth is relative. Think of the insanity of that comment. It defeats itself...seeing there are no absolutes...that comment itself is relative... therefore they cannot stand on it! But they do... and all I can think of is sinking sand.
I'm glad I've based my beliefs on the rock of Jesus Christ, and I will not remove the ancient landmarks which the prophets of old have set, but will stand on the Word of God.
Proverbs 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.

Scripture of the Day - April 26, 2012

Luke 22:19 ...this do in remembrance of me.

Can you imagine that we would forget Christ? But yes it's possible or Jesus would not have told us to do these things to remember what He did for us.
How often do we go through our daily activities without giving Him a thought? How often do we get so absorbed in the task at hand or the task to come that He is not even a flicker in our minds. As the days fade into each other, how many days can pass by without you uttering a single word to Him who shed His blood for you? How often do you brush Him aside because you are just too busy?
Yes, we do forget Christ and what He did for us. We do get too busy for the things of God. We do need to be reminded that we are here because of Him. Jesus gives a warning that, if not heeded, will leave us with dire consequences.

Revalation 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.
Do you want to be too busy when Jesus comes back? I don't.

Scripture of the Day - April 25, 2012

Psalm 3:1 A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.
2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God.

What a horrible thing to have your own family turn against you. (I know what that's like, I can relate to David here because it happened to me two years ago with my siblings and my own mother.) It seems like the whole world is against you. It seems like you are all alone. But if you know God, if you have a relationship with God, you are never alone. Even if every person in the world turns against you, you are not alone, you have the greatest ally there is. The Great I AM is there by your side, He is your friend that sticks closer than a brother. Trust in Him, lean on Him, He will never let you down, He will never leave you nor forsake you, He is always there to comfort you and protect you.

Scripture of the Day - April 24, 2012

Psalm 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed...

This has been the question of the ages. Why do the ungodly prosper while God's people struggle so. Psalm 1:4 gives us the answer. The ungodly are like the chaff which the wind drives away. When the wheat is tossed in the air the unusable part, the part that has no substance, is blown away. Oh yes, it's the part you see while the wheat is growing, just as in this present world we see the ungodly prosper and even rail against God, but one day they will meet with the wrath of God and we will wear a crown of righteousness. One day we will judge this world with God. 1Cor. 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? Ac 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness.
God is training us so we are fit to judge. God is molding us into the vessel He wants us to be. God is cultivating us so we are worthy to wear the crown of righteousness. Be gracious and let Him.

Scripture of the Day - April 23, 2012

Psalm 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Someone responded to yesterday's SOTD saying that it would be interesting to know the Hebrew meaning of prosper, so of course I had to look it up. Thank you, it's always good to dig deep into the Word:)

Prosper means to push forward, to break out, to come mightily, to be good, to be profitable...and we get a sense that there is a struggle of sorts before one prospers.
When a seed is planted it must struggle to push up and break out of the ground but in the right environment the seed can do this and will grow and bring forth fruit. Likewise we must struggle to push forward and in the right environment (delighting in the law of the Lord) we can do this and come out mightily, and prosper. We too, can bring forth fruit.

The danger lays in our perception of what it is to prosper. We have to move beyond the material concept of prosper and understand there is more to life than our material gain. The blessings of the Lord go far beyond the material, they reach far deeper than what this world has to offer. The Apostle Paul understood this, which is why he could say that he had learned in ALL situations to be content. Philippians 4:11 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. There is a difference in resigning yourself to your state and being content. Paul was content because He had the blessings of God. He was bringing forth his fruit. He was prospering.

Scripture of the Day - April 22, 2012

Psalm 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Hmmmm, some Christians may not agree with this verse because they are not prospering. Things don't seem to be going their way...in fact, things are falling apart. If this is your thinking you need to refer back to verse 2 and ask yourself "do I delight in the law of the Lord, do I meditate on His Word, do I even read His Word, and do I follow His Word?"

It's not enough to just believe, it's not enough to just go to church on Sundays...are you obeying ALL the Word of God...or are you picking and choosing what you want to listen to and leaving out what you don't like? Therein could lay your trouble.
Delight yourself in His law...it will take discipline but discipline takes you where you want to be...in the will of God receiving His blessings.

Scripture of the Day - April 21, 2012

Nehemiah 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

The people had returned from captivity and rebuilt the city and now they were listening to God's law being read by Ezra. They were sorrowful and wept because they had turned from God and suffered so much for it. It was their own doing and they knew it; they and their families were taken captive, for 70 years, by the Babylonians because of their backsliding. But God, who's love for us is never-ending and oh so longsuffering, welcomed His people back with open arms. He forgave them and wanted them to celebrate their return. The people were pricked in their hearts and wept when they heard the words of the law, but God wanted them to be happy to return to Him.

No matter how far you have strayed from God, He will always welcome you back. He doesn't hold grudges and He is always forgiving. Once you have repented you can celebrate in His joy, for this is where you will get your strength to carry on.

Here is a quote I read somewhere...Do not dishonor your faith by always wearing a furrowed brow. Cast your burden on Jesus and receive the joy of the Lord for it's the joy of the Lord that is your strength.

Scripture of the Day - April 20, 2012

Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

What is your delight? What do you find pleasure in? What do you find yourself thinking about most times? What's on your mind often?
Now I ask, where will these thoughts get you?

If your delight is in God, if you ponder and study His Word, if you let the laws of God guide you and rule your life, THEN you shall prosper and have good success. Oh yes, you will have obstacles but be strong and of good courage, don't be afraid nor dismayed because God is with you wherever you go and He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Your God, Jesus Christ, leads the way victoriously and you can follow Him victoriously! You chose.

Scripture of the Day - April 19, 2012

Psalm 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

You are happy, you are fortunate, you are prosperous and even enviable if you don't follow the plans or advice of the ungodly, if you don't follow after sinners and don't join in with those who mock God.
The enemy of your soul would have you thinking you are missing out on all the fun by following after God. Look at the big splashy adds for alcohol for instance. Everybody looks so good...sexy girls in bikinis, handsome men, all raising a drink in the sunshine...everyone looks so happy with big smiles on their faces, everyone is having fun, fun, fun. But these adds don't show the flip side...they don't show the broken marriages, the drunken brawls, the man or woman laying in a pool of blood after a domestic dispute triggered by alcohol. They don't show the wrecked car with a child clinging desperately for life being rushed to the hospital , because of a drunk driver. They don't show the hangovers, the loss of jobs, the loss of family, etc.
If you follow after the ungodly you are missing out alright, and you want to miss out on his rewards!
God will not be mocked, you will reap what you sow. Chose you this day whom you will serve. Do you want blessings or do you want curses? The decision is yours.

Scripture of the Day - April 18, 2012

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

I heard a powerful message preached with the warning DON'T GO THROUGH THE WRONG DOOR. Jesus Christ is the ONLY door to heaven. There is no other name given to us whereby we must be saved. His door may not be pretty, His door may not have fun programs and all sorts of social activities, His door may mean you have to pick up your cross if you want to follow Him, His door may mean sacrifice, His door may mean you have to make difficult decisions that go against your human desires, His door may mean you have to go against the tide, against 'Christian' public opinion; but His door is the ONLY door that will open up heavens gates to you.

Scripture of the Day - April 17, 2012

Philippians 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Sometimes we fuss and worry over things enough to make ourselves sick. Medical science has discovered that stress causes many of our diseases. We become absorbed in our worries and it affects our health.

For those of us who know the Lord, there is no excuse for this. If we really trust Him, we will turn to Him in our time of need, He will take care of us, and we can then rest in that knowledge. Read Matthew 6: 24-34...put God first and He will take care of you.

Scripture of the Day - April 16, 2012

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Answer this question for me...If Jesus is a second person, called the son, in a triune godhead, then why does Isaiah prophecy that his name shall be called THE MIGHTY GOD and THE EVERLASTING FATHER, as well as other names? According to the trinity doctrine there is God the Father, God the son and God the Holy Spirit, three persons in one Godhead..but Isaiah is calling the Son "The EVERLASTING FATHER". Someone is confused.

Folks, God Almighty, Creator of all, manifest Himself in the flesh and dwelt among us. That flesh, was the son, the only begotten son of the Father. That flesh was begotten for one reason...to redeem us from the grasp of the enemy...the only one who could do that was God...so he showed Himself in the flesh as Jesus Christ and paid the penalty Himself for our sins. Jesus...Jehovah is Salvation.
God is a spirit. John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
God is holy. 1 Peter 1:15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; 16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
There is also no separation of our heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit. God is holy and He is a spirit...He is the Holy Spirit.

He is my everything, He is my all.
He is my everything, both great and small.
He gave his life for me, He made everything new.
He is my everything, none other will do.

Scripture of the Day - April 15, 2012

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

When God planned His creation He knew that He would have to redeem us from the grasp of the enemy. He knew that He would manifest Himself in the flesh through His only begotten son, Jesus Christ. When you see Jesus you see our heavenly Father showing Himself to mankind. Jesus said to Philip, John 14:9 he that hath seen me hath seen the Father.

The reason Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith) is because He is The God Almighty. 1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh.

Please folks...Colossians 2:8 BEWARE lest any man spoil you {make a prey: or, seduce you, or, lead you astray} through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

Most people have it backwards. They think Jesus is a second person in a triune godhead...but in reality all the fulness of the Godhead is in Jesus... so beware and heed the many warnings of the apostles to watch for false teachers and don't listen to them. Have the same attitude as Peter and John...Acts 4:19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. 20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.

Scripture of the Day - April 14, 2012

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all...

Jesus said John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

There are not many paths to heaven. There is only one and the entry way is through Jesus Christ. All mankind has that sin nature that cannot enter heaven BUT through faith in and obedience to Jesus Christ we can enter heaven's gates.

None of our goodness is good enough. None of our good deeds with gain us entry. It's only because of the atoning blood that Jesus shed that we have a hope of being saved from receiving the wages of sin, which is death. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus really is everything to us. He is the GOOD SHEPHERD. He is the DOOR of the sheep. He is our HIGH PRIEST. He is also the OFFERING, the PROPITIATION. He is the LAMB of GOD. He is both our JUDGE and our MEDIATOR. And He doesn't stop there. He is also our FAITHFUL WITNESS! Revelation 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness...

He is my everything, He is my all.
He is my everything, both great and small.
He gave His life for me, He made everything new.
He is my everything, none other will do.

Scripture of the Day - April 13, 2012

2 Timothy 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom...
Acts 10:42 And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.

Jesus Christ is the judge of all people.

But wait! He is also our advocate!

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous...

Jesus Christ will judge all sin one day and the penalty for sin is death. Seeing as it's not His will that any should perish He gave Himself as the sacrificial offering to pay the price for our sins.

1 John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

He is my everything, He is my all,
He is my everything, both great and small.
He gave His life for me.
He made everything new.
He is my everything, none other will do.

Scripture of the Day - April 12, 2012

Hebrews3:1 ...consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus...

God, who had ordained sacrifice and offering to be made for our atonement, became Himself our HIGH PRIEST.

Hebrews 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

And because no other sacrifice was sufficient, He offered HIMSELF as the OFFERING. Jesus, our HIGH PRIEST also became the Lamb of God, the perfect offering.

He is my everything, He is my all.
He is my everything, both great and small.
He gave His life for me, made everything new.
He is my everything, none other will do.

Scripture of the Day - April 11. 2012

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

The LION of Judah, who is the LAMB OF GOD, who is the DOOR of the sheep is also the GOOD SHEPHERD, who gave His life for the sheep. (We are the sheep, by the way.)
Jesus Christ is our Shepherd and those who belong to Him hear His voice and follow Him. They are safe and protected from the enemy. The key is to follow Him. You must stay close to the Shepherd. If you stray from Him you are prey for the enemy. Jesus knows who are His and who are merely paying lip service. You may fool people but you can never fool Jesus.

John 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand

Scripture of the Day - April 10, 2012

John 10:7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved...

The LION of the tribe of Judah, who is also the LAMB OF GOD, is also the DOOR through which we must go if we want to be saved. There is no other way. JESUS is the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. He is the ONLY way to enter heaven.
Good works won't cut it, tradition can lead you astray, and the vain philosophies of man will definitely lead you astray. Listen to Jesus, He is calling whosoever will.

Scripture of the Day - April 9, 2012

Revelation 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

Yesterday we celebrated the resurrection of the Lamb of God, who gave Himself as a sacrifice for our sins. John also lets us know in Revelation that Jesus is the Lion of the tribe of Judah and the Root of David!
There are so many attributes to God and He shows them to us through Jesus...how else would we see?
We can see that the one who is meek and humble, who allowed Himself to be led away as a lamb to the slaughter, is also majestic and full of power. He is the Lion, the King, of the tribe of Judah. He is the ancestor of King David.
How can Jesus be both Lion and Lamb? Because He is God, He is everything!!

Scripture of the Day - April 8, 2012

Hebrews 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Jesus is so much to us. He is the sacrificial lamb that was slain for the sins of all humanity. John 1:29 He gave Himself as the offering for sin Hebrews 9:14 but He is also the great high priest. This is significant because it was the high priest who sprinkled the blood of the sacrifice on the mercy seat to atone for the sins of the people. Now we know this didn't take away their sins, it only rolled them ahead to the day that Jesus would die for the sins of the people once and for all. And because He did, and because He rose from the grave, we don't have to go through a human priest to reach God. We can go straight to the throne of grace because Jesus is our high priest! We don't have to wait and go once a year, we can find mercy at any time. The door is always open.

Scripture of the Day - April 7, 2012

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Jesus came to give... and He gave all...He gave His life for us. Is it so unreasonable for a redeemed Christian to give too...to give of their time, their effort, their finances, their talents...whatever will benefit the kingdom? Jesus gave the ultimate...how can we withhold? We sing the song "I will give you all, if all is what you ask of me I will not withhold..." but do we really mean it?
Is it so unreasonable to expect us to step out of our comfort zone when God Almighty, our creator, stepped down from heaven to robe Himself in flesh and give His life for us? How can we withhold?
Give and it shall be given unto you. Withhold and it shall be withheld from you.

Scripture of the Day - April 6, 2012

Good Friday 2012-04-06

JESUS CHRIST GAVE HIS LIFE THAT WE MIGHT HAVE LIFE!

John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved...
10 I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
15 I lay down my life for the sheep.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he opened not his mouth.

We live in a dying world; A world that has turned its back on God, a world that doesn’t know God.

Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way;and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. (separated you from God)

God Almighty had done so much for His people. He had blessed them abundantly; He delivered them out of Egypt with miracle after miracle. He brought them into the Promised Land that was FLOWING with milk and honey. He went before them in battle after battle and gave them the victory.

Yet they still went whoring after other gods...gods that could do nothing for them. They still strayed from Him... the One who delivered them and blessed them.

Herein is the love of God toward His creation. He manifest HIMSELF in the flesh to take all our sins upon HIMSELF and pay the penalty for us. He became the scapegoat, He became sin for us, even though He knew no sin! 2 Cor. 5:21

And it’s not because we are all so wonderful and deserve it!

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

It’s because He loved us that He gave us the opportunity to receive the gift of eternal life.

Philippians 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Found in fashion...
1 The habitus, as comprising everything in a person which strikes the senses, the figure, bearing, discourse, actions, manner of life etc.

God Almighty took on a human body. He experienced all that we do and understands our every weakness. He walked in our shoes!

Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

HE UNDERSTANDS!

He’s been there! And He has the scars to prove it!!

It is a horrible, horrible thing that Jesus had to suffer the way He did. But He doesn’t want us to focus on that.

There were a great many women following Him, wailing and lamenting and Jesus stopped and said to them...

Luke 23:28 ... Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

Jesus knew that this wasn’t the end, He knew he would rise from the dead victorious over hell death and the grave!! And He knew that all who believe in Him and follow Him will have the same victory.

Victory: by B.E. Warren

Hallelujah, what a thought! Jesus full salvation brought victory, victory.
Let the powers of sin assail, Heaven’s grace can never fail, victory, victory.

I am trusting in the Lord, I am standing on His Word, victory, victory.
I have peace and joy within since my life is free from sin, Victory, victory.

Shout your freedom everywhere, His eternal peace declare, victory, victory.
Let us sing it here below in the face of every foe, victory, victory.

We will sing it on that shore when this fleeting life is o’er, victory, victory.
Sing it here ye ransomed throng, start the everlasting song, victory, victory.

Scripture of the Day - April 5, 2012

John 19:16 They took Jesus and led Him away.

In his prophecy about Jesus, Isaiah (53:7) said that He was brought as a lamb to the slaughter. John the Baptist declared (1:29) Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Jesus bore out sins on His back when he carried that cross to Calvary, He became sin for us when He was nailed to that old rugged cross. The Pharisees of that day led Jesus away just as the High Priest of old would lay hands upon the scapegoat, confess the sins of the people, and lead the goat into the wilderness to carry away their sins.

Jesus is our scapegoat, taking away our sins. Jesus is the sacrificial lamb, paying the penalty for our sins.

How could anyone ever doubt the love God has for us...He manifest Himself in the flesh and paid the penalty Himself for our sins. It actually pleased Him to do this! That's how great His love is for us!!

Scripture of the Day - April 4, 2012

Ephesians 6:19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Our desire ought to be the same as Paul. Rather than asking people to pray for out physical needs we should be asking for the same prayers as Paul did...pray that I open my mouth boldly to share the gospel. If we keep our focus right...on the Kingdom...then God will take care of all the natural needs.

Scripture of the Day - April 3, 2012

Ephesians 6:18c ...and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The definition of perseverance is "continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition." God never promised us that life would be easy, especially the Christian life. He never pretended that everything would go our way and we would have no opposition. In fact, He warned us that it would be tough, He warned us that we were in a battle for our souls, a battle that we could never win on our own.

We are told to watch with all perseverance because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Peter tells us to be sober and be vigilant. 1 Peter 5:8
And Paul tells us to watch and pray earnestly and humbly for our fellow Christians with all perseverance. Never give up! Even if the situation looks hopeless to you, never give up! Even if the person seems like they're never going to "get it", never give up! Persevere to the end! Overcome all natural desire to give up and keep fighting the good fight. Pray without ceasing. Never let go of the Master's hand.

Scripture of the Day - April 2, 2012

Ephesians 6:18b Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,

To pray in the Spirit is to truly pray the will of God. Often we come to God expecting Him to get in sync with our agenda, and we can be quite disappointed when He doesn't. But if we walk with Him daily, if we know Him through His Word, we will know what to pray for and He will answer our prayers. Sometimes our humanity gets in the way and God will say no or wait; but if we are walking with Him we will understand that He knows what's best and we won't be disillusioned or hurt when the answer is no.

That being said, often we don't know intellectually what to pray; but when we come to Him, in the Spirit, that very Spirit will pray through us.

Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Do we understand what a wonderful God we have? Do we understand how much He loves us and is willing to help us? He didn't die on Calvary for nothing. He didn't die for us then abandon us. He is there always. He will never leave us nor forsake us. Pray always folks, pray always. Stay close to Him and He will protect you. Trust Him and He will see you through.
