Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Et tu Brute? Perhaps the most famous words uttered to relate the ultimate betrayal of a close friend were in Shakespeare's play, Julius Caesar.
Now personalize that phrase and have it come from Jesus. Even you Mary?
How can we sin against our Lord who has done so much for us? Sin alone is bad enough but to have it come from those who've been given the grace of God, who've been washed clean by the blood of Jesus, who've been baptized into His death is a far heavier blow. How can we betray our Lord who has done so much for us and has given us so many promises? How can we betray our Lord who has adopted us and made us a part of His family?
Oh let it pierce the soul to imagine Jesus, with tears in His eyes and sadness in His voice, saying "even you.......?"
