I mentioned in the last email that Jesus saved us from our sin not in our sin. I ask you, if Jesus thought sin was serious enough to die for shouldn't we take it serious too? If Jesus went through all the torture and the most horribly painful death to pay the penalty for our sins, shouldn't we hate the sin that did this to Him?
Knowing the penalty for sin is death, why would we not hate sin, why would we not hate that which brings death to us? Do we love cancer? No, of course not! Sin is like cancer. It creeps in, slowly ravaging the body, often unnoticed, till it brings death. Just because you don't see physical evidence of what sin is doing doesn't mean it isn't killing you.
We can't take God's grace for granted. We can't take the mercy of God for granted. We have to do our part. We have to shun sin and embrace holiness...that is, if we want to see the Lord.
Repent of your sins, have them washed away in the waters of baptism in the precious name of the One who died for you, receive the life-changing Holy Spirit into your life and let it lead you into all truth and righteousness. Be a peacemaker and love holiness. Then, and only then, will you enter heavens pearly gates.
