Scripture of the Day - February 8, 2012

Ex 25:40 And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.

God gave Moses a very detailed plan for the Tabernacle in the book of Exodus. It took 13 chapters to explain the construction and dedication of the Tabernacle and the book of Hebrews takes almost 3 chapters to explain the symbolic meaning of this pattern. Had Moses deviated from God's plan do you think that God would have showed His glory in that tent? No He would not!

Ex 29:43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.

God gave Noah a very detailed plan for the building of the ark that would save him and his family. Noah listened to God and did exactly as God commanded and he was saved from destruction. Had Noah decided to change the design of the ark do you think that thing would have floated during the flood? No, it would have broken apart!

Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house...

God has a specific plan for our salvation...to deviate from this plan is to deviate from your salvation. God has made it very simple for us. He gave us step by step instructions on how to save ourselves from this untoward generation.

When the people asked "what must I do to be saved?" Peter told the people exactly what they need to do...they did it and over 3000 souls were added to the church that day!! Do you think they would have been added if they decided to do something different? Of course not!

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

So why do we think we should change God's plan of salvation for us today? Why do we not take Him seriously when He explains what we need to do? Why do we think the teachings and traditions of men who came along hundreds of years later can replace the plan God had set for us on the day of Pentecost? Why do we think we can ignore what God has commanded and still expect salvation? Just asking.
