Scripture of the Day - October 12, 2012

Psalm 73:2  But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.

Oh the perilous path we are on! Some think the path to heaven is easy and they skip through life in blind complacency. If you do not feel the opposition, if you do not feel the struggle then you are probably on the wrong path. You see, there is an opposing force that does not want you to enter those pearly gates. There is an enemy of your soul that wants your feet to slip. Jesus warned that narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. But sometimes our worst enemy isn't satan, it's our very own selves. How prone we are to sin, how prone we are to self-destruction, how prone we are to lose strength, how prone we are to wander away and lose our foothold.
It wasn't till the psalmist stepped into the sanctuary did he see things clearly. Psalm 73:17  Until I went into the sanctuary of God! Go ahead and read through these verses. He was looking at things from the wrong perspective...his own... and he nearly slipped because of that. We cannot lean on our own understanding, the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked, we need the Word of God to be a light to our path, and we need the preaching of the Word to guide us, for it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 1 Cor. 1:21  It is only God who can keep you from slipping. Reach out to Him. Listen to Him. Hold onto Him and never let go.
