Scripture of the Day - October 19, 2012

1 Corinthians 3:1  And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.

When a person first comes to the Lord and is born again he/she is a babe in Christ. Most people grow spiritually, but some, unfortunately, don't get past the toddler stage. They are still ruled by their carnal nature...3 ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions.  All they can tolerate is the milk of the Word...Jesus loves me. He died for my sins, He's my sugar daddy...oops, my Father...in heaven. The meat of the Word is too strong for them and they choke on it. They can't go into a deeper walk with God because they won't grow strong enough to take it. Their understanding is very shallow, but they are wise in their own eyes, so they are swayed very easily. They have itchy ears that only want to hear the 'feel good' messages. They won't allow themselves to be tested and corrected, rather they run. The problem is that they are running from God. But for those who stand their ground He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.Psalm 111:5
