Scripture of the Day - June 30, 2012

Hosea 7:8 Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.

Have you ever wrapped something in foil and put it on the BBQ and forget to turn it...then when you take it off you find it's burnt on one side and not cooked on the other? What do you do with it? Throw it out! It's no good for anything! Ephraim was like that..they had some form of obedience and holiness but it hadn't gone right through the very center of their being. There was still much rebellion left. They still mixed in with the heathen so you couldn't tell who was who. They were like a cake not turned.
God doesn't expect us to be perfect and never make mistakes but we can't have the appearance of holiness in one area and reigning sin in another, we can't be like a cake not turned. If so, then we are good for nothing. We have to let the Word of God permeate through every fiber of our being. A double minded person is unstable in all his/her ways.

Scripture of the Day - June 29, 2012

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2  For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

When we die to self will, when we separate from the ways of this world, we are in Christ and we are free from condemnation, free from the law of sin and death. The key is to walk after the Spirit not after the flesh. We can't walk after the flesh and consider ourselves saved from sin and death.

Scripture of the Day - June 28, 2012

Daniel 3:18  But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

Against popular opinion, against even the king of the land, these three Hebrew young men stood firm. They didn't bow to public pressure, rather they separated themselves from all who would worship the golden image. They were willing to give up everything to stand for God. They risked their lives even to stand for God. And He stood for them, in fact...He stood WITH them in the fire. Oh yes, they had to go through the fire but they trusted their God and stood on faith and never backed down and God was with them. When you stand for God He will stand with you!

Scripture of the Day - June 27, 2012

Exodus 8:28  And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away:

Satan is like Pharaoh. He doesn't mind Christians going to church. He doesn't mind them doing good deeds. He just doesn't want them to stray too far from this world. He wants them within easy reach. He doesn't want them to be overly zealous for God, rather lukewarm and easily swayed by popular opinion. Death to sin and burial with Christ is ridiculed. Separation from this world has eyes rolling and accusations of cult. Holiness is scorned and we are enticed to blend in with this world. Be a little different but don't separate yourself, I want you close says the enemy of your soul.
But the further you are from a poisonous snake the better. It's not wise to be within striking distance of a viper. It's foolhardy to scamper around the rocks where the rattlesnakes lay hidden and waiting to strike. Come out from among them and be ye separate says the Lord. 2 Cor 6:17

Scripture of the Day - June 26, 2012

1 John 1:5  ... God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

God is everything good. There is no evil in Him at all. He is perfect beyond our imagination. Oh but why is there so much evil in this world and why does God allow it? If you could fault God this would be the only accusation...He gave us free will. Now I'm NOT saying we can fault God for giving us free will for if He didn't we would be fussing about that! But I digress.
The world is in the mess it is because we humans have made it that way. We have made this world the way it is by turning from God's ways and doing what is right in our own eyes. Ta da! You are experiencing the result of human wisdom.

Psalm 27:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

God Almighty is not some far away detached cosmic being. He is very personal. Read this next part out loud to yourself. "The Lord is MY light and salvation. He is watching over me. He loves me. I am fearfully and wonderfully made and I am the apple of His eye. He is the strength of my life and I have absolutely nothing to fear because He holds me in the palm of His hand."

Scripture of the Day - June 24, 2012

1 Timothy 2:5  For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus...

I am so glad I know to whom I need to go to plead my case for me. My poor mother told me that you pray to Mary then she goes to Jesus then He goes to the Father. But GOD says there is one mediator and that is Jesus. You see God came to reconcile the world unto HIMSELF, not any one else. God manifest HIMSELF in the flesh, He didn't send someone else. Oh yes, God sent His son...but don't you know that the 'son' is the flesh, the human body of Jesus Christ, born of a virgin, not born of man but born of God, His only begotten. Jesus made it very clear that He is God Almighty come in the flesh." If you have seen me you have seen the Father", He told Philip. And again He said "I and my Father are ONE" He didn't say he was a second person in a triune God. He declared HIMSELF to be God.
We don't need to be confused about to whom we should pray. Go straight to Jesus, savior of the world.

Scripture of the Day - June 23, 2012

Luke 8:21  And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it.

Some people imagine that Mary had special privileges and held a special rank because she was the mother of Jesus, but while she was certainly honoured to be humble and obedient enough to bring forth that perfect human and nurture him into manhood that was as far as it went. In this scene His mother and brothers couldn't get near Him because of all the people so a certain person let Jesus know that they wanted to see Him...perhaps thinking they deserved special privileges. Jesus Himself is letting us know that we are all equal in God's eyes. None is more important or holds a higher rank than others. What gains you entry into the family of God is faith in and obedience to Jesus. Hear the Word and Do the Word!

Scripture of the Day - June 22, 2012

Ps 119:11  Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.

God's Word is perfect and it doesn't change. People, on the other hand, are far from perfect and we change all the time. Our perception of right and wrong changes with each generation, and with each passing generation we are deteriorating. Here is an example of how nonsensical we've become.
I just read an article regarding the proposed ban, in New York, on the sale of sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces, in an effort to combat obesity. The mayor hopes the move will help lead to different behaviors.
Never mind the fact that we shouldn't be drinking the poisonous stuff anyway, this announcement came just days before the city celebrated National Donut Day in Madison Square Park! Talk about mixed messages!
Never mind the mixed messages, this is a narrow minded, short sighted knee jerk reaction that is not getting to the "fundamental" issue...and it will lead people to turn to the diet drinks not under the ban which cause as much or more damage!
What a mess our society is in, not only with regard to our physical health but also our spiritual health. We have turned from the Word of God to other things which will damage us in the long run.  We say a little bit of sin here and a little bit there, don't call this sin and don't call that sin, let's rename it.
Do you want to prosper? Do you want to be in good health? Then hide the Word of God in your heart so you know what you ought to be doing.

Scripture of the Day - June 21, 2012

Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.

The Christian faith is based on irrefutable fact, unlike evolution which is nothing more than a theory pushed by those who don't want to acknowledge God. People are deceived into thinking evolution is fact because it's taught in our institutions of learning. Unfortunately many people are deceived because they want to be deceived. They don't want to answer to God. But one day they will answer to Him whether they want to or not.
I challenge you to read the rest of this chapter to see what this world has in store. I urge you to turn to God now before it's too late. If you don't have a Bible you can go to

Scripture of the Day - June 20, 2012

2 Peter 3:10  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

Those whose focus is on saving this planet while ignoring God are fighting a losing battle. Even our scientific laws of thermodynamics tells us this. This earth is growing older, it is decaying, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. People have to shift their focus from this planet to their souls. There IS something we can do about that.
One day Jesus is going to return for His people. Are you one of His? Is He going to know you? Is He going to say 'well done, come with me' or is He going to say 'I never knew you' and cast you out.
Wake from your slumber oh sleepy one. Wake and save your soul.

Scripture of the Day - June 19, 2012

1 John 1:5 ... God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

There are many people who don't want to know Jesus, in fact, many people hate Jesus and everything He stands for. The reason for this is they love darkness rather than light because their deeds are evil. Oh they cover it up with 'worthy' causes...like save the planet...but it all boils down to the wickedness in the heart of mankind.  Think about this..they want to save the planet yet kill the babies! Yes, kill the babies...and they use 'women's rights' as a smoke screen for their evil deeds. People reject Jesus because He sheds light on all hypocrisy. He shows sin for what it is and they don't like it so they hide from Him.
Jesus came to save the world, believe Him, save yourself from destruction, come out of darkness into His marvelous light and have life.

Scripture of the Day - June 18, 2012

Psalm 102:25  Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
26  They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed:
27  But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

People today have strayed far far away from the truth of life. They say God is dead and act as though this world is going to last forever with their cries of 'save the planet.' What they need to do is worry about saving their souls. The fate of this planet is already set, but the fate of their souls is in their own hands. God is very much alive and will be forever more. He is calling whosoever will. Will you?

Scripture of the Day - June 17, 2012

Genesis 2:8 And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

Our heart is the garden of the Lord and we need to cultivate it in order for His Spirit to dwell there. As any gardener knows, if you don't tend to your garden the weeds will take over. It's the same thing in our lives. If we don't tend to our hearts the junk of this world will creep in and take over.

Scripture of the Day - June 16, 2012

Isaiah 59:17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

God is holy and righteous and will pour out judgement on sin. Too many people see God as a grandfatherly type sitting in heaven handing out goodies to all the kids, so to speak. We ignore His Word then run to Him when we trip and fall. We run to him to fix our booboo's, we run to Him for blessings yet we also run around ignoring his plea to hate evil.
Folks we have to be zealous for the things of God and zealous against evil. Paul tells us to put on the armour of God and when we do we must also cloke ourselves with zeal. God is zealous for us and we ought to be zealous for Him.

Scripture of the Day - June 15, 2012

Psalm 97:10 Ye that love the LORD, hate evil...

It is easy to say you love someone but it's a whole other thing to prove your love. Sometimes proving your love means sacrifice on your part, it means putting the other person's interest before your own. We live in an age of selfishness...me,me,me and mine, mine, mine. Couples are often at conflict because each one is looking out for his/her own interest.
What has that got to do with hating evil? Sometimes what God calls evil we think is fun. Sometimes we have to sacrifice the 'pleasures of life' in order to prove our love for God. Oh but when we do the blessings that flow from God far exceed any of the pleasures this world can offer for ...he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

Scripture of the Day - June 14, 2012

Song of Solomon 8:7 Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

NOTHING could drown her love, not a mighty flood nor all the riches in the world. Such is the love that God has for us. Paul uttered that NOTHING can separate us from the love of God. Rom. 8:35-39 If only it were the same with us toward Him. Just as Solomon eventually went after and married many foreign women we too go after and join ourselves to things not pertaining to God. How sad it is that we could turn from the One who loves us so much. Is there really anything in this world worth giving up His love for? Solomon realized that all was vanity and vexation. Folks nothing in this world is worth giving up God for. We can look and look but eventually we will discover that there is only One true love.

Scripture of the Day - June 13, 2012

1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

The distinguishing mark of a true Christian is the love he shows toward others. It is first seen in the love he has for Jesus and that love naturally radiates out toward others. You see, to truly be a Christian you must be Christ-like, if you are not Christ-like then you are not a true Christian but rather a pseudo-Christian, and that my friends, is useless.
Where do we get this notion to love? From God Himself, for God IS love.

Scripture of the Day - June 12, 2012

Titus 3:3 For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared...

This world has gone mad. Everyone is doing what's right in his own eyes. There is chaos everywhere. Europe is a mess. America is a mess. Terrorism has become the new tool of a 'certain people' who have the world shaking in fear. It's sickening to watch our politicians cower before them but such is life. Such is life when you turn from God. All you have is deception and everything that goes with it.
But God showed His love and kindness toward us by coming to earth to save us...not because we are so wonderful...but because He had mercy on us and pitied us. Let's not focus on the ugliness in this world, rather let's focus on the tender love of God...and let's love Him back.

Scripture of the Day - June 11, 2012

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Paul knew this too well...the things I want to do I don't, and the things I don't want to do I end up doing, oh wretched man that I am! We all have the same struggle with our carnal nature waring against the Spirit. This business of being a Christian is not a walk in the park...it is a fight for you soul, and you must fight for it or the enemy will take it.
It's too hard, I can't do it alone, you might say. Well you are not alone. God himself is your banner...Jehovah Nissi...call on Him. God himself will heal your wounds...Jehovah Rophi...call on Him. God himself is your salvation...JESUS...call on Him. Fear not and fight on looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith.

Scripture of the Day - June 9/10, 2012

Ecclesiastes 11:9 Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

Oh the foolishness of youth! Young people think they're going to live forever, they think they have all the time in the world to do all the fun things they want, then when they are older they will turn to God. Don't you know that you'll be judged for all you actions, that you'll have to answer to God one day for every time you brushed Him aside and every time you turned you back on Him? That day of judgement will creep up on you faster than you realize, and you will come to understand that it was all vanity, it wasn't worth it. You will regret not giving yourself over to God in your youth. Nothing in life is worth losing God over.

Scripture of the Day - June 8, 2012

Exodus 22:29 Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits...

What part of first do we not understand? First means before anything else.
But, but, but... you don't understand... I have to pay my bills first then I'll give a little of what's left over. I have to get this done first and that done first...I'm on a deadline...I'll do the God things when I have time. I have to, I have to, I have to...
What I have to do is put God first. Jesus told us point blank not to fret over the natural needs of life, if we put Him first He will make sure all those needs are taken care of.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Folks, we need to take God at His word and trust Him to take care of us.

Scripture of the Day - June 7, 2012

Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, ... ye have us for an ensample.

Paul was a walking advertisement of what God could do in a person's life. He went from persecuting the church to being it's strongest advocate. He had faith to lay his hands on the sick and they were healed. He endured hardship and peril with joy, knowing he was in the Master's hand. He preached the Word with great enthusiasm, never being ashamed of the gospel of Christ.
The same power and victory that was in Paul's life can be in our lives today. God hasn't changed and He desires to bless us the same as He blessed Paul.

Scripture of the Day - June 6, 2012

Mark 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

To endure is to undergo (as a hardship) especially without giving in, or to regard with acceptance or tolerance, or to continue in the same state, or to remain firm under suffering or misfortune without yielding.
As Christians we must endure, we must press toward the mark, we must have the attitude "THIS ONE THING I DO". We must be fixed and focused on Jesus, the Savior of our soul.
We often excuse not following Jesus with the reasoning that He was God so of course he could do this and that. But how about following Paul as he followed Christ? Paul was just a man. Paul had to fight his carnal nature just as we do. What makes Paul stand out though, was his complete and utter faith in God. Faith can move mountains, faith can endure to the end, faith pleases God. And folks there is no other way around it, we must please God if we are to be saved.

Scripture of the Day - June 5, 2012

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children and to all that are far off, every one whom the Lord our God calls to him."

This promise that was given back then hasn't ended. It's given to as many as the Lord our God shall call. It's totally illogical and completely opposed to the Word of God to teach otherwise and to to teach that this is not for today. If God expected people to repent of their sins, be baptized in His name and then receive His gift of the Holy Spirit when the book of Acts was written then He still expects it today. God doesn't change Mal 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not. Unfortunately people have changed and they've strayed away from what God has said. Folks we have to take God at His word and not let the philosophies of man sway us.

Scripture of the Day - June 3/4, 2012

2Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Cor 10:4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

When a soldier joins boot camp he is put through rigorous training...some make it through and some give up. Those that make it through have pleased their commanding officer. They have not let the outside world influence them, rather they focused on their goal and followed through to their reward.
One of the things impressed upon the soldier is to know his weapon. He has to be able to take apart that weapon and put it back together in record time. He has to know that weapon intimately. There must be no hesitation...it could mean life or death on the battle field. As well as knowing his weapon the soldier must be free to use that weapon. He cannot draw his weapon and use it if his arms are tangled in something...the weapon is useless to him.

We are soldiers in God's army and the Word of God is our ONLY weapon. We must know the Word intimately, we must be able to apply it in every situation with no hesitation...it could mean a life or death decision. We must be free from the entanglement of this world in order to apply the Word effectively. Don't let the vain philosophies of this world entangle you; know the Word of the Creator, the Word of the One who will judge you some day, the Word of the One who gave His life for you, the WORD OF TRUTH.

Scripture of the Day - June 2, 2012

Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: {the Son of his love}
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

Folks, we are DELIVERED FROM THE POWER OF DARKNESS, and TRANSLATED INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD, THE KINGDOM OF JESUS CHRIST!
Do we understand the magnitude of that? I think not. We in North America are spoiled beyond recognition. We take our salvation for granted, even going as far as brushing aside much of scripture arrogantly saying it's not for today. And those of us who claim to adhere to all scripture live in such a way that one has wonder what exactly we adhere to.
We have been bought back from the enemy of our soul through the blood of Jesus, our sins are forgiven, and we now have access to the kingdom of heaven. Folks, we don't want to lose that access through carelessness. Our salvation is too precious to take for granted. We ought to treasure it and guard it ever so carefully.

Scripture of the Day - June 1, 2012

2 Timothy 1:13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

Paul is telling Timothy to continue to follow the pattern of the sound teaching Paul had taught him and to keep safe through the Holy Spirit the great treasure that was entrusted to him. False teachers had infiltrated the church and were turning against Paul and the gospel. Not only was the church being shaken, but Paul was now a prisoner in Rome and he was concerned for Timothy. He encouraged Timothy to stand firm against the ridicule and persecution of the false teachers and to remain faithful to Christ.
We live in a world that is riddled with false teachers who mock and fight against believers of the truth. They have watered down the Word of God claiming much of it is not relevant today...baptism in Jesus' name...receiving the Holy Spirit (Ghost) was for back then they say. All you have to do now is confess that Jesus is your 'personal Lord and Savior' and you are 'saved'. I get a sense of 'Jesus is my personal valet' when I hear that! I have news for those people...He is not your savior if you are not going to do what He says to be saved. And that's the bottom line so hold fast to what Jesus taught and hold fast to the pattern the apostles set. Don't be intimidated by false teachers and don't be swayed by their smooth talk.
