Scripture of the Day - February 29, 2012

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

We are sealed...protected...covered...made secure... with the Holy Spirit of God. Why then would we want to grieve the Holy Spirit of God?
In the previous verses Paul explains how to be renewed in the spirit of your mind...no more lying, tell the truth...yes things will make you angry but don't do something stupid in that state of anger...don't let the devil control your thoughts...don't steal but work hard and be ready to help those who are in need.... and here's a command that too many of us have a really hard time with...Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. James lets us know that the tongue can cause a lot of damage. In other words what we say is very important, so important that it can bring life or death.

So before you speak ask yourself..do I want to bring death,do I want to grieve the Holy Spirit of God, or do I want to bring life and please God?

Scripture of the Day - February 28, 2012

Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

We often use the excuses, 'I was born this way', and 'I've been this way all my life' to make apology for the carnal way we are... the way we talk and act. But there is no excuse! God commands us to renew our way of thinking and put on the new man which follows after God. God does not fill us with His Spirit for nothing. He fills us with His Spirit to enable us to follow after Him in righteousness and true holiness.

Scripture of the Day - February 27, 2012

Ephesians 4:20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

If you want freedom follow after Jesus. He came to set us free. Forget the old way of thinking and acting... because our lusts, our desires, deceive us.

God tells us in Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? But 17:7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

The psalmist wrote Psalm 118:8 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Seriously folks, we do not know better than God. If we want freedom we need to follow after Him who set us free.

Scripture of the Day - February 26, 2012

Ephesians 4:19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

When we look at the antics of people in this world we can see that there are many who are 'past feeling', that is they are callous, their conscience is seared and they have given themselves over, that is they have committed themselves to, unbridled lust, excess, insolence, lacking moral restraint. They excuse all of these 'qualities' as being free. I am free to do this and do that.

But are they? No! They are deceived... not free. The ability to make decisions based on what is right over what feels good at the moment is true freedom

Let me give you an example to put this in perspective. A person who is grossly overweight feels bad about themselves, their self-esteem is low and they can feel ashamed for being so large. They decided to cut out fattening foods to try and shed some of the weight. Many of us are emotional eaters. We eat to make ourselves feel better. The overweight person sees a chocolate cake, know they shouldn't eat it but they feel so bad and they want comfort so they give into this feeling and eat the cake. They give in to their feeling at the moment. What happens after shows why we are not free when we give into our feelings and do what is easy at the moment. Oh yes they are comforted while they are eating the cake but they have added unnecessary calories, they have broken their promise to not eat fattening foods, they now feel guilty for eating the cake and feel worse than before. And the downward spiral continues.

Is this freedom? Is giving into your desire for pleasure freedom? NO! It's the same phenomenon with the alcoholic, the smoker, the shopaholic, the sexually permissive, and the list goes on. People who give in are not free, they are bound. The ones who are free are the ones who have discipline in their lives and can say no.

Scripture of the Day - February 25, 2012

Ephesians 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart...

Folks it is ignorance, blindness, stubbornness, and vanity that keeps people from God. They can make all the excuses in the world to not believe but this is what it boils down to. We need to thank God every day that He opened our understanding. We need to be grateful that we are no longer living in darkness. We need to thank God that He has shone His light upon us and we need to walk in that light. It would be pretty foolish to have the light shining and chose to walk in darkness wouldn't it?
In the next few verses we are going to see just how people who walk in the light conduct themselves and if you are not doing this, it's time to start. Let the amazing grace of God light your path.

Scripture of the Day - February 24, 2012

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

It behooves us, for our own good, to heed the words of Jesus. No man-made doctrine will ever override the Words of Jesus Christ, no matter how long the traditions have been followed. And no man will enter heavens gates unless they follow Jesus...He, and He only, is the way to the Father.

If we can ever get a full grasp of this truth then no weapon formed against us will prosper, we have a mighty weapon that will fight all doubt, all fear, all sickness. None of life's trials and temptations will hang round our necks bearing us down, rather, we will run and not be weary we will walk and not faint...because JESUS SAID...because HE HAS SAID.

When we search through that precious book and find the promises of God we can rest assured those promises are for us. We can rest assured that if we follow after Jesus we are following One who has conquered hell and death, One who had given our enemy a mortal blow, One who has won the victory. So when the storms of life come crashing in, rest on what Jesus said and know that the divine wisdom from above will get you through any difficulty and will comfort you in any distress.

JESUS SAID...
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Scripture of the Day - February 23, 2012

Ephesians 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Paul is still talking about the church here. We need to teach and preach the truth in love. We need to grow in the love of Christ, the head of the church, so that we all fit together and work together for the good of the whole body. Each person has a role to play, each person is important. Just because you are not standing behind the pulpit don't think you are not important to the church body. We all minister to each other, we all edify each other... that is...we build each other up. No man is an island, we are all connected to each other and affect each other. We are the church...(the body of Christ)...and the love of Jesus...(who is the head of the church body)... flows through each and every one of us and unites us in that love. Here is a warning from Paul to the church in Rome...Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.Rom. 8:9

Scripture of the Day - February 22, 2012

Ephesians 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive...

God wants us to be united in the faith and knowledge of Jesus. God wants us to be mature vessels that are fit to comprehend the presence and power and riches of Jesus Christ. This business of all religions being equal is devilish, even this business of different Christian denominations with all their different slants on the Bible is devilish. I know I may lose some of you here but think about it. Why do we come up with doctrines (teachings) that are not in the Bible? I can list so many doctrines from different denominations that are not in the Bible. Why are they teaching this if it's not in the Bible? And why aren't they teaching what is in the Bible? Because they are deceived by false wisdom!

Folks, we are not to add to nor take away from the Word of God. We don't need to change anything that Jesus or His apostles taught. In fact, Paul gave a very strong warning that if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Gal. 1:9

I don't want to be accursed do you? I don't want to be tossed to and fro with every new doctrine created by men who are deceived by false wisdom.
Let's unite in the knowledge of Jesus and what He taught. Let's be that mature vessel that is fit to comprehend the fullness of Jesus Christ.

Scripture of the Day - February 21, 2012

Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

God has ordained the church with Jesus Christ being the head and the church being the body. Church is not something you go to if you have no other plans...church is vital to your salvation. How else would you even know about salvation if it weren't for a teacher or a pastor or an evangelist or a prophet or an apostle which God gave to you? How else would you know how to stay in that saved condition if it weren't for these men and women that God gave to perfect you and to edify you?

BUT, you CANNOT take a person's word...you MUST study the scriptures YOURSELF to see if these things be true. There are so many false teachers in the church it is imperative for you to read the Word of God for yourself...to see if what they are teaching is actually in the Word of God. Acts 17: 11 ... they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. 12 Therefore many of them believed...

Scripture of the Day - February 20, 2012

Ephesians 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

That He might fill all things
...this reminds me of the song, "He's got the whole world in His hands." Folks,God is in control of EVERYTHING. There is nothing hid from Him.He knows all that is going on in this big bad world, in fact... He is allowing it for His purpose. It may seem to us like the world is spinning out of control, with the rise of Islam and the chaos in the middle east and the financial woes of Europe and the U.S. but God is holding the reins.
Have no fear, child of God, He is not too busy dealing with the nations that He doesn't have time for you. There is not a sparrow that falls to the ground without God knowing. He cares for you...He cared enough to show Himself in the flesh and die for you. You are safe in His hands because not only did He die for you but he rose victorious over death and hell. He conquered all and left nothing undone. He will do the same in your life if you let Him. You too can have the victory if you follow after Jesus.

Ephesians 4:7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

God gave us His grace... His unmerited favor, through Christ. He gave it to each of us individually and deliberately so that 'whosoever will' can come to Him. And those things that held us captive, He now holds captive. We are free...free to accept the gift of God... all the gifts God has for us! No more shackles no more chains...we are free!!

Scripture of the Day - February 18, 2012

Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Some say there are many paths to God. Some say there are many gods. Some say that we are gods. Some say a lot of foolish things.

Here is what God says:

Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.

Isaiah 44:6 Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Isaiah 44:8 Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

1Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power...

So who do we believe? The Word of God or the traditions of man?

Scripture of the Day - February 17, 2012

Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

I looked up "vocation" in the Strong's Concordance and it said " a calling of the divine invitation to embrace salvation of God." Folks, do we have any idea how privileged we are to be called of God? There is nothing we did to deserve this calling...it is a gift from God. Rom. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Eternal salvation is a gift, not a reward for a job well done, and we need to appreciate this gift and walk worthy of it with humbleness... not boastfulness, with patience... not impatience, sustaining and enduring each other in love.

We need to be diligent and exert ourselves (yes, it takes work!) to keep united and be peacemakers. It is the peacemakers, not the ones who like to cause trouble, that will be called the children of God. Mt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

Scripture of the Day - February 16, 2012

Heb 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

I mentioned in the last email that Jesus saved us from our sin not in our sin. I ask you, if Jesus thought sin was serious enough to die for shouldn't we take it serious too? If Jesus went through all the torture and the most horribly painful death to pay the penalty for our sins, shouldn't we hate the sin that did this to Him?

Knowing the penalty for sin is death, why would we not hate sin, why would we not hate that which brings death to us? Do we love cancer? No, of course not! Sin is like cancer. It creeps in, slowly ravaging the body, often unnoticed, till it brings death. Just because you don't see physical evidence of what sin is doing doesn't mean it isn't killing you.

We can't take God's grace for granted. We can't take the mercy of God for granted. We have to do our part. We have to shun sin and embrace holiness...that is, if we want to see the Lord.

Repent of your sins, have them washed away in the waters of baptism in the precious name of the One who died for you, receive the life-changing Holy Spirit into your life and let it lead you into all truth and righteousness. Be a peacemaker and love holiness. Then, and only then, will you enter heavens pearly gates.

Scripture of the Day - February 15, 2012

Ephesians 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

There is more to being saved than avoiding hell... which in itself is enough! But God isn't interested in 'just enough'. He is interested in doing exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think...Christ's triumph is all encompassing. Jesus not only saved us from hell, He saved us from our sins...Matthew 1:21...He strengthens our inner person with might by His Spirit...Ephesians 3:16...and when we have faith in Christ and he dwells in our hearts and we are rooted and grounded in His love then we can get a grasp of the breadth and length and depth and height of the love of Christ, which the carnal mind cannot comprehend, and we are filled with all the fullness of God... Ephesians 3:17-19 That is POWERFUL! Read it again, slowly.

Satan is cast from his throne and no longer has dominion over us born again believers. Oh he will strive against us but he will never gain the upper hand. When you have the love of Christ in your heart, when you have the power of God ruling your life, satan has lost his stronghold in your mind. When you are sanctified to Jesus, when your life is holy unto the Lord there is a new stronghold, a powerful stronghold, that can withstand any onslaught of the enemy. Herein lies the key... Jesus saved us FROM our sins not IN our sins.

Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

If it weren't for Jesus we would still be alienated from God. Our sin has separated us from God but Jesus broke down that barrier once and for all when he paid the penalty on the cross, And just as He rose from the grave victorious over hell and death we too can be victorious through our faith in Him. We now have access to the throne of God! We can now cry Abba Father!
Oh the folly of the soul that refuses to follow Him.

Scripture of the Day - February 13, 2012

Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
10 To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,
11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord...

Folks we have to understand how important the church is. The church is not some social group, and it's certainly not a building. The church is the body of Christ, who all things were created by. The diverse and multifaceted wisdom of God is made known by Jesus Christ and the church!

Not even the angels in heaven knew why God created humans who would rebel against Him. I'm sure it perplexed them to no end, but now the mystery is shown...through Jesus Christ and the church...the love of God is shown through Jesus Christ and the church...the mercy and grace of God is shown through Jesus Christ and the church...the power of God is shown through Jesus Christ and the church.

You, born again child of God, are a part of something powerful, glorious and amazing! Never take that for granted.
For those of you who have walked away...it's time to return to those loving arms.
For those who are not a part of this...it's time to enter in and receive all that your heavenly Father wants to give you.

Scripture of the Day - February 12, 2012

Jeremiah 18:4 And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.

If you truly want God to work in your life He may need to break you in order to work with you. In order for the potter to mold the clay it must be pliable in his hands... if it's not, he had to beat it down and start again. God says Behold, as the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are ye in mine hand.

Sometimes we let nasty things build up inside of us and the only way to get rid of them is through the fire. In order for gold to be purified it must first have all the dross burned out. Peter talks about the trials of our faith being much more precious than gold that's been tried with fire. Jesus is coming back for a church that is without spot or wrinkle, that means a church that's been purified, a church that's allowed itself to be molded by the Master's hand.

Let God mold you into a perfect vessel, a vessel in which He can pour his grace and power. Don't close yourself off to God, rather, surrender to Him and let Him work miracles in your life.

Scripture of the Day - February 11, 2012

1 Peter 5:5 ... Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

God wants to work with us and mold us into a perfect vessel, but He cannot do that if we are not pliable in His hands. This means that if we are too proud to allow God to work in our lives He will not force Himself on us. But oh...to those of us who allow Him...God can do miracles in our lives. If we humble ourselves and surrender our will to His will ANYTHING can happen.

Do you feel distant and disconnected from God? Do you feel numb and are just going through the motions?
Are you perhaps frustrated in your Christian walk? Do you feel that everything is coming against you?

If you've answered yes to either of these questions then perhaps you need to do some soul searching. Perhaps you need to see if there is an area in your life where you are not allowing God to lead you...an area in your life where you are not surrendering to God. God will not work with pride but if you humble yourself to Him, He will give you grace and work His power in your life.

Scripture of the Day - February 10, 2012

Ephesians 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ...

Paul was made a minister by the grace of God. He was made a minister so he would preach the gospel to the gentiles...a proud Jew...a zealous Pharisee...preaching the gospel to the gentiles. That's ripe!! In our natural minds we would have never chosen Paul for this mission, but God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are certainly not ours, and that's a good thing!

It doesn't matter how lowly you think of yourself...God CAN use you for His kingdom. You may have come from the depths of depravity...it doesn't matter...once you turn your life over to God ANYTHING can happen because you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. You see, the power doesn't come from you, it comes from God. It's the working of the power of God in your life that transforms you. All you need to do is surrender to Him and He can work miracles in your life.

Scripture of the Day - February 9, 2012

Ephesians 3:6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel...

Back to Ephesians...In the first few verses of this chapter Paul gives an explanation of why he is preaching to the gentiles. We are in the dispensation, or the time period, of grace and because of grace we can be heirs of the kingdom of God. We are heirs by the gospel of Christ. We are grafted into the family of God through our faith in Jesus.

The love of God is so profound, overwhelming even. God Almighty reached down to us...manifest Himself in human flesh...paid the penalty for our sins so we could have that glorious inheritance...an inheritance we did not deserve...but because of His grace and mercy we are adopted in and can cry Abba, Father. Romans 8:15 ... ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Let's bask in that love today and come to an understanding of how much He loves us and how fervently He is watching over us.

Scripture of the Day - February 8, 2012

Ex 25:40 And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.

God gave Moses a very detailed plan for the Tabernacle in the book of Exodus. It took 13 chapters to explain the construction and dedication of the Tabernacle and the book of Hebrews takes almost 3 chapters to explain the symbolic meaning of this pattern. Had Moses deviated from God's plan do you think that God would have showed His glory in that tent? No He would not!

Ex 29:43 And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.

God gave Noah a very detailed plan for the building of the ark that would save him and his family. Noah listened to God and did exactly as God commanded and he was saved from destruction. Had Noah decided to change the design of the ark do you think that thing would have floated during the flood? No, it would have broken apart!

Heb 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house...

God has a specific plan for our salvation...to deviate from this plan is to deviate from your salvation. God has made it very simple for us. He gave us step by step instructions on how to save ourselves from this untoward generation.

When the people asked "what must I do to be saved?" Peter told the people exactly what they need to do...they did it and over 3000 souls were added to the church that day!! Do you think they would have been added if they decided to do something different? Of course not!

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

So why do we think we should change God's plan of salvation for us today? Why do we not take Him seriously when He explains what we need to do? Why do we think the teachings and traditions of men who came along hundreds of years later can replace the plan God had set for us on the day of Pentecost? Why do we think we can ignore what God has commanded and still expect salvation? Just asking.

Scripture of the Day - February 7, 2012

(John is referring to Jesus here, you can back up a few scriptures to see this.)

1 John 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

Sometimes people outside the Oneness Pentecostal movement get annoyed when we talk so much about Jesus, when we put so much emphasis on Jesus, and that is a real pity because it IS all about Jesus.

John says that if we keep the word of Jesus the love of God is perfected in us. Now I don't know about you but I would hazard to guess that Jesus and His word ought to be the focus of our Christian lives.

Some will say they believe in Jesus yet they don't obey His word...that makes them a liar. John explains very clearly that the proof that we know Jesus is that we keep His commandments, in other words that we obey what He taught. And if we don't obey Jesus the truth is not in us...we are liars!

In Ephesians 2:20 we read that the foundation of the church is the teachings of the Apostles, the chief cornerstone being Jesus Christ. We ought to be digging into the book of Acts to see how the church was birthed and what the Apostles taught. We need to follow THEIR example, not the example of people who came in many years later bringing false teachings...they are accursed.

My prayer for everyone is that God give us wisdom to know truth from fallacy.

Scripture of the Day - February 6, 2012

Ephesians 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

It's all in Jesus!! ALL THE BUILDING (that's us...the church) is fitly framed together in Jesus. He is the cornerstone of the church, He is the head of the church and we are all part of His building, so to speak, we are all part of His body. You can't have the church without Jesus. Jesus must be the focus of the church.... or you are nothing more than a social group following man-made traditions.

If it weren't for Jesus and what He did for us there would be no pouring out of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost. There would be no church. We would have no hope. BUT IN HIM is all hope, IN HIM we are able to receive the Spirit.

Scripture of the Day - February 5, 2012

Ephesians 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone...

If we ever wondered what foundation we are standing on we need not wonder any more. If we ever wondered where the doctrines of the church came from we need not wonder any more. The church is built on what the apostles taught and they taught what Jesus taught them.

Through the ages false teachers came into the church teaching false doctrines that lead us away from Christ and who He is. Be sure folks that what you believe is what the apostles taught, not tradition brought in throughout the years.

Scripture of the Day - February 4, 2012

Hebrews 9:22 ... without shedding of blood is no remission.

The penalty for sin is death. That is a fact that we cannot get away from, just as sticking your bare hand into a fire will give you a burn is a fact that we cannot get away from.

When Adam and Eve sinned they didn't die physically but they did die spiritually. They were now separated from God. Their sin kept them from God and there was only one way to be returned to God...paying the penalty for sin.

All through the Old Testament they had to bring a sacrifice to represent paying this penalty but the blood of lambs and goats could never atone for our sins. This was just a shadow of things to come. A shadow of ONE who would pay the penalty for ALL mankind. A shadow of Jesus paying the penalty for all of us. He paid the penalty when he hung on the cross thus fulfilling the law.

Now the only requirement from us is belief in and obedience to Jesus. There is no hope outside Jesus. None of our traditions will get us anywhere, none of our good works will get us anywhere. There is only one way to heaven and that is through Jesus Christ, who took upon himself the sins of the world and paid the penalty for all of us.

The door is still open, all are welcome, seek Him while He may be found.

Scripture of the Day - February 3, 2012

Psalm 90:4 For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

Life is short. We don't have any time to waste. None of us knows when we will leave this world, and what we have to understand is, when we do leave we will be going into eternity. Where do you want to spend eternity? I want to spend it in heaven where there is no more sorrow and no more tears, where there is joy unspeakable!

This world is on the brink of a catastrophic war that will kill 1/3 of mankind. Although it will start over in the middle east you can be sure we will be affected here in North America. There will be fall-out all over this world. I am not a fear monger I am just telling a fact.

My prayer for each and every person on this list is that we will all learn to number our days and apply wisdom to our lives. Seek the Lord while He may be found. He has called whosoever will answer. Why don't you answer the call today. Turn your heart completely to Him who loves you with a never-ending love.

Scripture of the Day - February 2, 2012

Ephesians 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
18 For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

Jesus came and preached peace to those who were far from God and even to those who were near to Him. No matter how near we think we are we still need the gospel of Jesus. The only way to the Father in heaven is through His flesh...Jesus...because that flesh came in One Spirit. As we learn later in Ephesians 4:4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

To add to the wonder of it all....we are part of the household of God and NOTHING can separate us from His love. Earthly families can turn on you, or they can refuse to accept you (the in-law syndrome) but God will always accept you and He will never turn on you. Believe on Him.

Scripture of the Day - February 1, 2012

Ephesians 2:14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; 15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; 16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Here we have a perfect example of God Almighty reconciling us to HIMSELF. He, who did no wrong, made peace with us. He abolished the enmity between us and Him by coming in the flesh and paying the price for us on the cross. He fulfilled the law so that we are reconciled to God through faith in Jesus, not through works. Both Jew and Gentile now have access to the throne, through Jesus, our High Priest. All are welcome!! The good news of Jesus Christ is to whosoever will. What an awesome God!!
