Scripture of the Day - August 10, 2012

2 Kings 7:1  Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
2  Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.

How many of us miss out on the abundant blessings of God because we doubt His word? There was a great famine in the city of Samaria because it was besieged by the Syrians. The people were beyond desperate, to the point of eating their own children. They saw no way out, which is why the king's aid said, “Why, this couldn’t happen even if Adonai made windows in heaven!” (Jewish translation) “I don’t believe it! Even if the Lord sent a rainstorm, it couldn’t produce that much grain by tomorrow.” (The Message translation)
With man, yes it would be impossible indeed, but with God ALL things are possible!! We have such limited vision and unfortunately it's through this limited vision that we see God. God will be to us what we expect Him to be. If we don't expect much then He won't be the doubter that is!
