Scripture of the Day - August 26, 2012

John 20:19  ...where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

The disciples had given up everything to follow Jesus. They staked their very lives on Him but now he was gone. Jesus was crucified and they were hiding for fear of suffering the same fate. His teachings faded from their memories and fear took hold. All they remembered now was how the religious elite hated Jesus, how they ridiculed him and opposed Him and eventually killed Him. Their hope was was over. BUT WAIT! Just when they thought all was lost JESUS stood in the midst of them offering peace! They could hardly believe it was really Him. So he showed them His hands  20  And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Oh what joy, oh what a relief, all is not lost!  21  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. So Jesus reassured them that they need not fear, they could go and teach all nations, baptizing them in His name, and He will be with them.
