Scripture of the Day - February 29, 2012

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

We are sealed...protected...covered...made secure... with the Holy Spirit of God. Why then would we want to grieve the Holy Spirit of God?
In the previous verses Paul explains how to be renewed in the spirit of your more lying, tell the truth...yes things will make you angry but don't do something stupid in that state of anger...don't let the devil control your thoughts...don't steal but work hard and be ready to help those who are in need.... and here's a command that too many of us have a really hard time with...Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. James lets us know that the tongue can cause a lot of damage. In other words what we say is very important, so important that it can bring life or death.

So before you speak ask I want to bring death,do I want to grieve the Holy Spirit of God, or do I want to bring life and please God?
