Scripture of the Day - February 17, 2012

Ephesians 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

I looked up "vocation" in the Strong's Concordance and it said " a calling of the divine invitation to embrace salvation of God." Folks, do we have any idea how privileged we are to be called of God? There is nothing we did to deserve this is a gift from God. Rom. 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Eternal salvation is a gift, not a reward for a job well done, and we need to appreciate this gift and walk worthy of it with humbleness... not boastfulness, with patience... not impatience, sustaining and enduring each other in love.

We need to be diligent and exert ourselves (yes, it takes work!) to keep united and be peacemakers. It is the peacemakers, not the ones who like to cause trouble, that will be called the children of God. Mt 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
