Scripture of the Day - October 6, 2012

1Corinthians 13:12  For now we see through a glass, darkly...

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Some don't see the real thing, instead they see what they WANT to see. I read somewhere "it's scary when a nation has an obesity epidemic and a skinny jean fad." What makes obese people wear skin tight jeans and crop tops? They are not seeing what they actually look like, they are seeing what they WANT to look like.
When we look at ourselves we need to see what we are really like and stop sugar-coating and making excuses for our actions. If you want to see your true reflection, look at yourself through God's mirror...His Word. We need to turn on the Light and see ourselves clearly. Jesus is the light of the world and it's by His light that we need to see ourselves. Don't hide from His light. We need to ask God to search our hearts and see if there is any wicked thing in there. We need to ask God to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. We need to ask Him to purge us with hyssop. We need to let the light of God shine through us so others see Him in us. Only then will they want what we have.
