Scripture of the Day - October 7, 2012

Revelation 1:10-11  I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day...

This was written by the apostle John and doesn't seem like such an extraordinary thing till you understand where he is and why he is there. He was banished to the island of Patmos and had suffered greatly because of the faith. History says John survived being boiled in oil, YET, he was in the Spirit on the Lord's day! He didn't give up on God because of hardship. He didn't throw in the towel, instead he got in the Spirit. And while he was in the Spirit Jesus revealed great things to come...things that John was to write so we could see them too.
If you are going through a trial today, get in the Spirit, get close to God. This is when you need Him the most, don't turn away.
Sometimes it's through your roughest trials that God will give you greater understanding of His ways. Sometimes it's not until you are stripped of all your strength that you can hear the voice of God. Psalm 92:5  O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. Oh Lord bring me deep that I may know Your thoughts and know Your ways.
